Meet Victor and Naylene

When we first met Victor…

At Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen & Pantry, we are confronted daily with the reality of the struggle our clients experience. Some stories touch us deeply and affirm what we are able to accomplish as an organization. We met Victor earlier this year while he waited patiently for emergency groceries at Lorraine’s. Soft spoken and kind, Victor approached us about volunteering at the kitchen. He explained that he was out of work, recovering from a major illness, and was inspired to help us and give back because of what we had done for him. Little did we know, Victor’s story would resonate with us for the months to come and he was gracious enough to allow us to share his story with you in this photo essay project.

  • This is Victor and his ten-year-old daughter Naylene. Victor came to the U.S. to build a better life for his family. He was accepted to Boston University and became a licensed drug and alcohol counselor, helping those with addiction.
